What Would Paris Hilton Do?

Published by mstina under Uncategorized

DukeWhile preparing to travel to my dad’s in TX, I had originally planned to take with me my new rescue dog bloodhound Duke. So, I started calling hotels in Brownwood, TX to locate one that would accept pets.

I usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express or Gate 1. None of them accepted pets. So, I started calling all the different hotels. I probably called 6 or 7 hotels! Finally, the only hotel I could find that would accept pets, was the Days Inn.

After checking into the motel, I found out that it was definitely far from the standard of the Hilton, or even the Holiday Inn Express. In fact, some of the complaints that I had included the following:

mold.jpg Mold growing in the bathroom.

fixture.jpgTub faucet handle needed repair.

pillow.jpgPillows were flat.
burn.jpg Permanent ashtray in table and cigarette holes burned in bedspread of a “no smoking” room.

And, finally the bathroom sink didn’t drain and the bath towels smelled like cigarette smoke. OK. So, I figured out that in Brownwood, TX, they treat animal lovers as second-class citizens. Brownwood has been my second home-town my entire life. So, I am very disappointed.

So, I began to wonder about, what would Paris Hilton think or do about this? Paris is an dog lover.

Her family has the famous Hilton hotels. She travels and I am sure she is used to bringing her pets with her.

In fact, in reading the history of the Hilton’s purchase of their first hotel, it was purchased in Cisco, TX, in 1919, just 49 miles NW of Brownwood. I traveled through Cisco on my way to Brownwood.

My only response is to blog. I thought about complaining to the motel I stayed in - the Days Inn. However, they are the only hotel/motel that accepted pets.

I am really more angry at all of the other hotels I called who said “Sorry, no pets allowed.” Should I have called or written a letter to the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce?

Paris, what would you have done?
