Back in the Classroom
I am very excited. I have been asked to teach an undergraduate class at my alma mater, Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Although I have taught a seminar or two, this is the first time I will be in the classroom in almost 8 years!
I am going to be teaching a simple course in using Microsoft Office applications. The format is one night a week, 4 hours a night, for 5 weeks. Because it is a private Christian University, I have the opportunity to pray, have a devotional, and talk about the spiritual development of the students in the workplace, as well.
I am also excited because I found out that the school has a Moodle server, and I will be allowed to use it for my class. I’ve never used Moodle, but thought this would be a great opportunity to learn how to use it! (Any Moodle experts, comments with advice are welcome!)
I know my students probably won’t be near as excited as I will be, but I hope I can sprinkle some Web 2.0 activities to make it interesting. I may have to think creatively in order to incorporate the activities without adding it as additional work. I am not allowed to stray too far from the mandated syllabus.
Hey, that gives me a great idea. Maybe I should come up with a syllabus of my own for a Web 2.0 class and submit it! Heeeeeyyyyyy……..
I am really excited to be back in the classroom, can you tell?
